    To receive eight rides, the MetroCard must be used eight times prior to the January 4, 2026 fare increase. On January 4th, $3 will be deducted from the remaining balance on the card.

    8 subway, local bus, or Select Bus Service rides and free transfers
    ($23.20 value). The cost for a local subway ride is $2.90 at the beginning of each trip. The cost for an express bus ride is $7.00. 

    You can combine time and value on the same MetroCard. Time will always be used first. Value will become available the time on your card runs out. PATH, AirTrain, and Express buses will always deduct from the value on your card.
